Oscar Isberian Rugs will be a sponsor for the Junior League of Evanston-North Shore 2013 Kitchen Tour. The Junior League Kitchen Tour is the only home tour dedicated to the kitchen. The tour will feature six homes in Winnetka, Kenilworth, Wilmette and Glencoe. “Designer Kitchens of the North Shore is a great chance for anyone interested in home design to find inspiration,” explains event chair Sara Ridder of Winnetka. “It is a showcase of beautiful homes with exceptional kitchens’ whether someone is drawn to traditional, transitional, or modern design, they will see it here.” This is the second year for the tour and the Junior League is expecting to build on last year’s success. A luncheon will be held at the historical Winnetka Community House, where guests will indulged in another special treat. “We are pleased to have Karl Sponholtz, HGTV Design Star finalist, as our guest speaker at the luncheon,” says Ridder. “He’ll talk about the secrets of great kitchen design. His presentation, as well as the luncheon, will be a great way to round out a fun and educational day of stunning spaces and incredible talent.” This tour has proven to be so much more than simply walking through the homes’ supporters will have the opportunity to pick the brains of the incredible minds who created the spaces. Prominent home builders Orren Pickell and Normandy Remodeling, leading kitchen designers Change Design Group and Mark Menna, renowned architect firms R. Scott Javore & Associates and Morgante Wilson, and innovative interior designers Susan Fredman and Sarah Dippold will all be on hand to talk one-on-one with Kitchen Tour attendees. These talented individuals plan to educate guests about design trends, space utilization, new technologies, flooring, lighting, materials, decoration, and more. Each kitchen has a great story to tell, and the designers will be there to give insight into the inspiration. More than $30,000 was raised from last year’s event, which goes directly to the JLE-NS’s community impact projects. Always keeping women top of mind, the JLE-NS assists those in need by advancing employment and fostering job readiness, as well as supporting families. Current projects embraced by the women of the JLE-NS include Fitting Futures, a program providing complimentary interview and career-appropriate attire for women in need, and Baby Steps, which provides education and training to low-income expectant parents. The organization also funds scholarships to help local students get the education they need for a productive career. Tickets for Designer Kitchens of the North Shore are $40 per person in advance or $50 per person the day of the tour. Luncheon reservations are $15.
