From a classic North Shore abode to an industrial River North loft, contemporary warmth welcomes two new home transformations.
Starting 2025 with an impeccable showcase of craft and style, the January/February issue of Luxe Interiors Chicago unveils the transformations of two properties that couldn’t be more different: a 1914 abode on the North Shore and a converted warehouse loft in the city’s River North neighborhood.
However, the two happen to share a defining attribute, as each of their recent updates focus on the warmth and welcome made possible by contemporary interior design.
Gracing the front cover of the issue with a tufted, geometric-patterned rug from our collection, the former’s “great bones” help balance classic elements with family comforts, eventually evincing a sense of home that isn’t lost to past or present. In the words of designer Kristen Ekeland, the refreshed concept “[makes] the most of the architecture to create an interior that’s a little new and a little old…it all comes together to feel fresh and inviting.”
As a living juxtaposition to its owner’s hectic career and “inner sanctum” of a personal life, the latter residence soothes the hardness of its built environment with soft, sinuous furnishings, layered carpets, and a warm-toned neutral palette. Creating visual interest with a wabi-sabi approach, designer Bella Jarrad crafts a true refuge from rigidity, a space that “lends a Zen, spa-like experience” through elements “[that] feel more natural.”
Congratulations to these homeowners and all those who reenvisioned each property with the care they more than deserved.
