From “Close to Home” in the Style Issue of Modern Luxury North Shore, writer J.P. Anderson tells the story of a lakefront home’s dazzling top-to-bottom renovation.

Located on a stunning lakefront property in Wilmette, the traditional home was given a thoroughly modern makeover courtesy of Morgante Wilson Architects.

The homeowners, a young family, wanted a contemporary home that would suit their unique needs without sacrificing style, and settled on a design which required a serious feat of engineering to remove all the walls on the first floor and enlarge all the window openings.

The result was a completely open-concept first floor where each space was unique, but flowed together in a cohesive and functional floor plan perfect for living, entertaining, and admiring the view from new floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the portrait worthy lakefront view.

To match the homes strikingly contemporary design, the homeowners chose to incorporate various rugs from Oscar Isberian Rugs to distinguish the interior spaces and accent the homes design alongside modern furniture by Minotti, fixtures by Lightology, and custom wallcoverings.

Congratulations to the team of Morgante Wilson Architects and the owners on their gorgeous new home.
