Oscar Isberian Rugs Bring Natural Charm to an Old-World Inspired Home

From the most recent issue of Northern Michigan Homes, “Crafted and Curated for the Ages” from writer Julie Ford tells the story of a custom Bay Harbor summer home built on the shores of Lake Michigan.

Inspired by the 11th-century architecture of Honfleur in the Normandy region of France, the homeowners sought to build a summer retreat reminiscent of the Old-World, and with the help of Glennwood Custom Builders and AMDG Architects, the owner’s achieved their dream home in the 12,000 square-foot residence.

A labor of love for the couple, the home features thoughtfully designed interiors sourced entirely by the wife who traveled around the world in search of unique art and artifacts to fill their retreat, including fossils, semi precious stones, and gorgeous natural stone reclaimed from the original foundation of the property’s previous structure. Included in the home are several hand-knotted oriental rugs sourced from Oscar Isberian Rugs and custom made for each room.

Congratulations to the homeowners and the design team on this magnificent project. To read more, check out “Crafted and Curated for the Ages” in Northern Michigan Homes.
