Oscar Isberian Rugs Featured in Modern Luxury Interiors: An Historic Gold Coast Brownstone Reimagined
Located on the Gold Coast, this historic Chicago brownstone is just steps away from Lake Michigan. Built in 1891, the residence was well-kept, but the client knew a renovation would elevate this property from impressive to unbeatable. Interior designer Dak Rak partnered with creative director Emily Samano and senior designer Anne Gothard to create an updated and modern interior that effortlessly enhances the home’s historic architecture.
Colors and textures pop throughout the rooms of the house, welcoming guests into the space and pulling them in for a closer look. A striking blue island stands out against the cool, white tones of the kitchen, while a sultry dining room beckons with deep bronze and brass elements. The client’s extensive art collection is seamlessly woven throughout the home, resulting in an art-forward look that lets both the pieces and the home design shine. The star of the show, however, is the third floor library and study area, where custom shelves meet solarium-style windows. Natural light pours in during the day, and at night, stunning city views catch the eye. A sitting area with a fireplace creates a cozy place to work or relax, tied together with an Oscar Isberian Rug, adding sleek comfort to the design.
Each room is meticulously crafted to blend the home’s historic status with contemporary decor, perfectly blending the brownstone’s past with its bright new future. The result is a welcoming, art-filled home with history.
